A (mostly) true storyI'd like to share an experience I had recently with a client who went through the process of dialoguing with his unconscious mind. We were talking about the Re/Transformation process over dinner one night and he told me he wanted to try it. So, we found a quiet space and started. We were looking for a belief held in his unconscious that was not working for him any longer. The one he found was his belief that he could not really multi-task. He works in a busy retail environment and has to keep track of customers, sales, inventory, and a myriad of other details. Doing several things at once while also staying focused on delivering a high level of customer service was taking a toll. I asked him to find an image in his mind of a person, real or fictional, that would be a symbol of how felt when he was working. He thought for a moment and then started laughing. "Lucy at the chocolate factory," was his response. What a great image! This was the first step in the process. Finding a symbol and image that is meaningful to the unconscious. The next step was to "promote" this belief and aspect of his personality to a new job. It was obvious that "Lucy" was not good at working retail! I asked Don (not his real name) what "Lucy" would be able to do for him elsewhere in his life. He thought for a moment and said, "She makes others feel welcome and happy to be in the store. And whenever I throw a party, she could be a great help, keeping me focused on taking care of guests. Earlier in the process, I had asked Don to identify the house of his higher self. This is the place that his unconscious recognizes as being the location of the evolved self: the seat of his self that is the most loving, the most peaceful, the most joyful, and the most abundant that he can be. To signal to the unconscious that the "Lucy" aspect was being evolved, I asked Don to imagine "Lucy" walking around the house of his higher self. At this point, Don told me he was feeling warm and a little nauseous. This has been typical. Whenever the unconscious makes a shift in belief, each person I have worked with has had some sort of physical reaction: nausea, feeling warm, sweating, slight dizziness, slight headache. The symptons don't last long. We let "Lucy" get settled in to her new digs for a minute. Then it was back to the retail counter. It was time to find a new symbol for the way that Don wanted to be at work. I asked Don to think about it for a moment. His new symbol: George Clooney. We both laughed again. Don told me, "George Clooney is great. He never gets ruffled. He does a great job whatever he's doing. And he does it his own way. He's always got a smile on his face. And he makes it look very easy." So, we put "George" in charge at the store. Don's unconscious mind accepted the symbol. The look on his face made that clear -- he looked much more relaxed. He also reported that he could clearly see himself at work being efficient, friendly, and even a little more sexy! I stopped by to chat with Don a few days later and to see how "George" was working out. Things were going great. Don was feeling better after work. Not to mention that he was feeling much more confident and assured in how he was doing his job of providing the best customer experience possible. Have you experienced Re/Transformation?
